It’s easy to be inspired to paint the forest view from my backyard. I constantly look at how the sun and light affects the trees and foliage surrounding me. Each time of day and season offers a different look. There are so many colours to capture in different moments. The weather is also a big factor. In this painting I wanted to capture that glow of the summer sun coming from behind the trees. I started with a bold fluorescent red as the underpainting and I think it really sets the tone for that glow.
