This painting was inspired by abundant flower fields and the mountains surrounding them. Magenta is one of my favourite colours to paint with these days. I love the range and temperature of colours you can achieve by mixing magenta with cool as well as warm colours. I started with a ground of fluorescent pink acrylic and then began painting in layers in oil. I was conscious as not to entirely lose the bright underpainting. I love the way the fluorescent pink pops and leads your eye throughout the painting.
